How to send photos to editors during a game

5 minutes to set up a destination.

When a remote editor or social team is waiting on your photos, every minute between the shot and their inbox counts. The fastest workflows send photos in the background while you keep shooting, or automatically the moment a card is ingested.

Pick a destination

DestinationBest for
Dropbox, Google Drive, Box, OneDriveTeams and editors who share a cloud folder. Metadata Express drops the photos into your synced folder and the cloud app uploads them; no extra log-in needed.
FTP / FTPS / SFTPNewspapers, agencies, wire services and team platforms that give you server details.

Set it up once

  1. In Ingest / Cull, click Send…, then Destinations….
  2. Cloud folder: click Add Folder…. Dropbox, Google Drive, Box and OneDrive folders on your computer are listed automatically. (On a team Dropbox, photos go in your own folder.)
  3. Server: click Add Server…, enter the server, user name, password and folder your editor gave you, and click Test Connection. Passwords are kept in your computer's keychain.
  4. Set a subfolder for each send, like {date} {event}, and tick Send JPEGs only if the editor doesn't need RAW files; JPEGs are several times smaller, so they arrive much faster.

Send during the game

Hands-free: send as soon as the card is in

In the Ingest window, set After ingesting, send to your destination. With Auto Ingest and Only photos locked on the camera turned on, the whole break looks like this:

  1. During a stoppage, eject the card and plug it in.
  2. Only the shots you locked on the camera are copied, backed up and given your IPTC info.
  3. They're on their way to your editors before you're back on the sideline.
